Base currency

In any trading pair, the first currency in the pair is the base currency. For example, in BTC/USD pair the ‘BTC’ is the base currency, and the ‘USD’ is the quote currency. Exchange rate shows us the pricing of one unit of base currency (BTC) in quote currency (USD).

Example: the exchange rate is $7,500 BTC/USD means that one unit of BTC (base) costs 7,500 units of USD (quote).
